The town of Sulphur is the gateway city to the majestic Chickasaw National Recreation Area, home to dozens of fresh and mineral springs, and you could spend the whole day exploring it.

Chickasaw National Recreation Area is located at the foothills of the Arbuckle Mountains in an area of the state known as Chickasaw Country. It’s the oldest national park area in the state and has been an outdoor haven for nature enthusiasts since the park first opened in 1902.
The area is home to more than 30 springs, and it's an oasis that continues to draw in thousands of visitors every year.
The springs, streams, and lakes range from freshwater to sulfur water and have always been a relaxing place for visitors to come and enjoy the peaceful waters. Many people believe there's an energy in them that brings healing and youthfulness.
No matter what you believe, one thing is for sure - this area is home to stunning topography and peaceful waters that provide a serene environment.
One of the more popular areas is Little Niagara at Travertine Creek. The water of Travertine Creek maintains an average temperature of 65 degrees year-round, which makes it the perfect place to visit on a hot summer day.

The area also has many camping options if you would like to extend your day trip and stay overnight. You can even find waterfront spots that make for the perfect backdrop.
