The Unrivaled Canyon Hike In Oklahoma Everyone Should Take At Least Once

Red Rock Canyon State Park is one of Oklahoma's crown jewels for outdoor enthusiasts. Located near Hinton, Oklahoma in the west central portion of the state, Red Rock Canyon is the place to go for epic hikes, rappelling, camping and exploring the outdoors. The canyon hike at Red Rock is an unrivaled experience everyone should enjoy at least once.

The red canyon walls within the park are so unique and provide a beautiful backdrop for your canyon hike.

There are two nature trails in the park for easy walks or there is a third trail for a more strenuous hike.

No matter which one you choose, your canyon hike will be memorable.

The highest canyon walls reach up to 80 ft. and are magnificent.

The canyon was once a stop on the California Road. Settlers would stop here for the fresh water and to repair their wagons.

Look for the historical CRT markers on your hike!

Throughout your hike you might even see some wagon wheel ruts left over from the California Road.

There is plenty of shade from the gorgeous trees that surround the trails.

The Caddo maple trees found in the park are only native in this canyon and, from October - November, the changing of their colors is a spectacular sight.

You can hike above or below the canyon walls.

And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even try out rappelling. It's one of the top spots in the state for this activity.

The park is a beautiful spot to visit year-round, but if you go in the summer, there is a sparkling pool to cool off in after your hike.
