With A Playground And Beach, This Family-Friendly Park Near Cleveland Is The Best Summer Day Trip
While we're so deeply lucky to have an abundance of parks in Greater Cleveland, some of them are huge, which means taking the kids for a visit can be a hassle. There's driving, navigating the twisty turns of the parks, finding a parking space, then deciding how far you want to walk on a miles-long hiking trail. Fortunately, however, there are also gorgeous little local parks like Sims Park in Euclid that are perfect for family outings. Grab your favorite Backcountry gear and get ready to spend some time outside... this park could captivate you for hours!
Welcome to Sims Park, a gorgeous little slice of paradise right on Lake Erie's shore.
Like many Cleveland-area parks, this pretty place is a coveted birdwatching spot, especially in the spring and fall when migrant species are present. In the summer months, species like the Belted Kingfisher and different types of gulls are common here.
At just around 33 acres, this park is intimate and petite.
Compared to the massive Cleveland Metroparks, this small space is a comfortable little hike for families. Paved paths span the wooded portions of the park, but as it brushes against Lake Erie, this eventually transitions to sand.
With a playground and a pier, this is an excellent place to help little nature lovers explore the world.
Parents and grandparents love taking little ones to this park. The splendor of the world just unfolds before eager little learners, especially if you visit during a bird-rich season.
Of course, spending some time in the sand also has a particular appeal.
This gorgeous beach is not a swim beach, but it's an incredible place to hunt for sea glass, read a book, or have a picnic. Surrounded by the sweet sounds of Lake Erie's crashing waves, it's almost meditative.
And, like any Lake Erie beach, waves do sometimes get intense here.
With rocky break walls and something like an underwater reef near the pier, it's no wonder there's a bit of crashing and splashing against the shore. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful place to spend some time, and it's a great way to show kids just how lucky we are to call this area home.
And if you stay until sunset, you're in for an even bigger treat.
This park is light on traffic compared to many Lake Erie beaches, so it's a great place to enjoy one of our famous sunsets. The park does close at dusk, so just be sure to head out as the sun sinks below the horizon.
All in all, Sims Park in Euclid is a local gem worth knowing.
With less foot traffic, a cute little playground, charming promenades, and gorgeous lakefront views, it's no wonder local families love this park.
You're going to love making memories here.
Look for the park at 23131 Lakeshore Blvd, Euclid, OH 44123.
Visiting Sims Park in Euclid is a true treat. With gorgeous views and less traffic than the Metroparks, it'll feel like your own personal paradise.
