The Red River Farmers Market in Fargo, North Dakota, is the largest in the state and a vibrant community event featuring local food, arts, and educational presentations.

Let's be real here: sometimes, it can feel pretty alone out here in North Dakota. We're the least-visited state in the entire country, sure, but that doesn't mean we don't know how to hold a great get-together when the mood strikes. Since 2015, there's been an amazing way to reconnect with friends, family, and the community nestled in the heart of Fargo. In fact, it's the largest farmers market in North Dakota, and it's an absolute must-do, whether you're native to the state or simply visiting.

The Red River Farmers Market has become somewhat of a local legend already, despite being a relatively new tradition.

It was organized out of a need to connect communities in North Dakota with locally-sourced, home-grown food and the farmers who provide it, as well as other locally-sourced goods like breads, soaps, and more.

What started as a fairly small, quiet affair with around 800 weekly attendees has since grown into a festive occasion with more than 8,000 attendees in a given week.

At the time of this writing, there are 19 market events held per year - and more than 100,000 people from all over tend to show up.

Currently, the Red River Market is host to more than 90 local farmers, growers, crafters, and creators.

Come for the farm-fresh veggies and home-baked bread; stay for the awe-inspiring arts and cultural events held at the Market.

Red River Market prides itself on showcasing local artists, cultural groups, and educators.

There are also educational presentations coaching curious audiences on baking, farming, and even how to cook, offering delightful menu cards and ingredient lists that can all be purchased and procured from the farmers' market.

The market is on every year, from July through October.

It's pretty difficult to understate just how epic this particular market - the largest farmers' market in North Dakota - is. There's simply so much to do, see, experience, and learn, and that's the best part - learning is the entire point!

There's a special importance to connecting the community with the farmers who provide their food.

Folks who live in states with much larger populations than ours don't always get access to this sort of thing; it's one of those small delights that make living in North Dakota so magical.

Bring the kids and bring the dog - he's welcome, too.

The best part of this Fargo tradition is its reliability; even if it's close to closing for the season by the time you read this, no worries - it'll be back soon, and better than ever. Visit the official Red River Market website for dates, times, vendors, and more.
