Spend The Weekend At The Dakota Zoo, A Fun-Filled Riverside Zoo In North Dakota

Wintertime can sometimes make you feel holed up at home, especially in North Dakota. All the seasonal things are closed, and if you're not into ice fishing or snowmobiling, it may seem like there's not a whole lot to do outside. And now, many are dealing with at-home learning with kids - the cabin fever can get intense! Luckily, there are still ways to get out with the family. The Dakota Zoo in North Dakota is open on the weekends, offering a great day trip destination that'll get everyone out of the house.

The Dakota Zoo in Bismarck, North Dakota has been delighting visitors of all ages since it opened in 1961.

Located on the edge of the Missouri River, this zoo is home to more than 600 animals and is open year-round. During summer, they are open daily, and in the fall and winter, they are open on the weekends.

From October through late April, the Dakota Zoo is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It's a great place to take the family out to shake off some of that cabin fever.

There are many beautiful animals still out and active through the winter, such as the big cats, wolves, camels, and more.

They house everything from Bengal tigers to Rock Mountain elk. Primates, reptiles, fish, birds - they have it all!

Kids and adults alike can appreciate the up-close encounters they can get at the Dakota Zoo. Plus, there are many fun activities.
