Discover One Of North Carolina’s Most Majestic Waterfalls – No Hiking Necessary
Looking Glass Falls in Pisgah Forest is a majestic roadside waterfall easily accessible without hiking.
The Land of Waterfalls never disappoints, especially with all of the roadside (no hiking required) waterfalls in North Carolina. But if we had to pick just one that could be considered the most majestic of all roadside falls, it would be Looking Glass Falls in the Pisgah Forest near Brevard. Stop searching online for "waterfalls near me" and lace up your hiking boots. It's time to chase some waterfalls!
The 60-foot waterfall is easily seen from the side of the road on US-276, just outside of Brevard. It is clearly one of the best waterfall hikes in North Carolina.
A convenient parking lane is located next to the overlook. (Parking is limited, so if you have mobility issues you may want to get there very early in the day.)
A bright yellow and brown forestry sign marks the spot of the waterfall — and from here, you can see it all.
Or, you can navigate to the street-level viewing platform for an even better spot from which to gawk at the natural beauty before you.
If you're feeling really daring, you may decide to tackle the hundreds of steps that carry you all the way to another platform at the base of this majestic waterfall. (Just remember, what goes down must also come back up!)
Most of the time, you can expect to share this free gawking activity with scores of other people who've also stopped to get a look at Looking Glass Falls.
If you're headed there in warm weather, bring a towel and possibly even a change of clothing. The plunge pool at the bottom of the falls is perfect for wading and cooling off in the hot summer sun.
Getting here is easy so you don't have to waste your time driving to hiking trails with waterfalls in North Carolina. From Brevard, head west on Pisgah Highway (a.k.a. US-276) until you come to the clearly marked Looking Glass Waterfall pull off on the right side of the highway.
Chasing waterfalls in North Carolina is rarely as easy as just pulling off on the side of the road and stepping out of your vehicle, but it is in this case!
