The One Place In North Carolina That Offers The Ultimate Outdoor Adventure

With all the natural beauty that North Carolina offers, it's a shame not to get out and see it in person every once in awhile. The next time you're in the mood for an outdoor adventure, lace up your hiking boots, grab a day pack and head to the DuPont State Recreational Forest.

DuPont State Recreational Forest covers more than 10,000 acres. It's a day use area that you can visit between 5 AM and 10 PM.

Much of the forest is untouched, full of hardwood trees and white pines.

There's no better way to enjoy a forest than by walking through it. Take your time and enjoy the serene beauty of this majestic place.

You can spend hours or even days exploring the 80 miles of dirt and gravel roads in this forest.

Lake Julia is a quiet spot for a picnic lunch, or to drop a fishing line and while away some hours in the wilderness.

Hooker Falls is one of several waterfalls you'll find here.

Triple Falls cascades in three levels, creating a stunning effect.

High Falls is 120 feet tall and is mesmerizing to watch.

Explore Thomas Cemetery - a tiny graveyard tucked away in the forest. At least eight souls rest here, but not much is known about them. They're believed to be early settlers from the early 1800s.

Explore the river by kayak, or spend an afternoon fly fishing.

You won't find a better adventure spot than this.
