Do you ever just stop to marvel at how much gorgeous natural scenery surrounds us in North Carolina? We have so many ways to explore that beauty, but one of the best ways is by getting outdoors and embarking on scenic hiking trails. Bluff Mountain Trail in North Carolina, for example, offers an abundance of natural beauty - from colorful wildflowers to an overlook with sensational mountain views.
Nestled in Doughton Park in Traphill, Bluff Mountain Trail meanders more than 7.5 miles through lush forest and past beautiful scenery.
Although the National Park Service notes that the terrain along the trail is predominately flat, there is still some elevation, earning it a moderate rating.
However, the out and back trail is well-marked, so you shouldn't have difficulty following the path that is dog-friendly. (Just keep your pooch on a leash.)
Pass fields of vibrant wildflowers and lush green meadows that seem to go on forever.
Once you reach the overlook, you might want to take a break, breathe in the fresh air, and admire the sprawling landscape before you. Have you ever seen anything quite as beautiful as...
The Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance? Even though you'll be in the forest for some parts of the hike, don't forget to lather on the sunscreen and bring it along. Several stretches do not provide any shade.
Keep an eye out for local wildlife too, including beautiful butterflies.
