You’ll Love A Walk Through This Enchanted Bamboo Forest In North Carolina

North Carolina has some awesome parks to get outside and play. From the gigantic dunes of Jockey Ridge State Park to Pilot Mountain, and all the other state, city and county parks in between, the Tar Heel State never runs dry in the well of outdoor fun.

One park worthy of more than a walk through is located right downtown in one of the most popular resort areas in the state.

Oconoluftee Islands Park is an oasis in the mountains featuring the shoals of the Oconoluftee River for cooling off on a hot day.

The outdoor oasis also features picnic areas, plenty of shade, and some super friendly residents.

Geographically, the park gets divided by two legs of the river, leaving a big island in the middle... an island that includes some trails — and the bamboo forest.

Go ahead, take a stroll through this jungle-like setting. It's not big enough to get lost for very long.

And you'll find you usually have some point of reference as you make your way around the tall timbers. Some of the largest bamboo in the world can grow to nearly 100 feet tall. It's not nearly that high in this enchanting forest, but it's still quite impressive!
