Take In The Tranquil Japanese Garden At The ABQ BioPark In New Mexico

Sasebo Japanese Garden in Albuquerque BioPark offers a serene escape with its beautifully manicured landscapes and Japanese-inspired features.

One of our favorite things about New Mexico is our state's incredible blending of cultures, both past and present. But while the Land of Enchantment is home to some truly remarkable historic communities, ruins, museums, and beautifully preserved relics, there's something to be said for taking a page from cultures that don't call the SW "home." Looking forward to taking a quiet walk in nature in the near future? Even if you can't get away from home for more than a couple of hours, you can find a little bit of peace at one of New Mexico's prettiest gardens. This unique Japanese garden in Albuquerque is the perfect place to feel like you've stepped across the ocean to another country!

Welcome to the lovely Sasebo Japanese Gardens located at the Albuquerque BioPark.

Just beyond this humble entrance are the gardens, a tranquil environment that allows visitors to adapt to a similar serene state of being. Walk just beyond this bell tower and you'll find a gorgeous garden, complete with towering trees, still ponds, and an elegantly manicured landscape.

You'll find a combination of beautiful landscapes around the park, from lush green foliage surrounding wooden bridges and quiet, koi-filled ponds...

...to cool waterfalls gently streaming into pools.

It is one part of the Botanic Garden at the city's BioPark, where you can stroll through a green landscape while surrounded by a silent, verdant enclosure. The four acres expertly mixes Japanese and desert fauna into a peaceful environment.

Hidden gems are scattered around the garden, such as pagodas, stone lanterns, and delicate flowers blooming, all taking inspiration from the Japanese culture.

There aren't many Japanese gardens in New Mexico, so the Sasebo is particularly special. Hit the trails to experience every corner of the garden - this quiet spot is one of the prettiest slices of the BioPark!

You'll certainly want to visit in every season to see how the colors and displays change throughout the year.

The Sasebo Japanese Garden is located in the heart of Albuquerque, just south of Interstate 40. This peaceful park is typically open daily, but be sure to visit the BioPark's website for more details.
