This pretty lake has a dam that creates a lovely waterfall cascade. It's a great place to picnic -- but be respectful!

Sedge Island Natural Resource Education Center, located in New Jersey's only marine conservation zone, offers educational programs to students and teachers. The tiny island is brimming with interesting marshes, fun activities, and astonishing wildlife.

3. Strawberry Avenue Boardwalk

One of New Jersey's finest lakes, this Pinelands swimming hole is notable for its reddish-tinted water (it's from the cedar). Spend a day swimming and boating here after hiking in Wharton State Forest.

6. Jenkinson's Boardwalk

Jenkinson's Boardwalk is a fun alternative to the more hectic and well-known boardwalks in the state. While this is less popular, it's still so much fun with a pretty beach, plenty of shops and restaurants, and a charming amusement park.
