The well-maintained trails are easy to navigate. You'll breeze along the flat four-mile trail. Luckily, you'll have plenty of energy left to walk the grounds of the historic Batsto Village at the end of your hike.
After completing the 4-mile hike, reward yourself by strolling through Batsto Village. The small village was established in 1766 as an iron and glass making community!
Over the years, the iron and glass-making industry dwindled. As the industry died, so did the town. In 1954 the state purchased the properties and began to plan for its new use. However, a few residents still remained and the last house was not vacated until 1989.
Today, the Batsto Mansion is open to the public for tours. Tours are conducted at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children.
Explore the entire village on foot and be sure to stop by the Visitor's Center for an abundance of information about Batsto. Even if you've been to Batsto Village before, another trip back in time is always a fun experience!
