Centennial Park is an urban oasis situated close to downtown Nashville. You may think you have to head out of the city for great trails, but there is a beautiful hike in Nashville at this park you may want to try. Not everyone has the time to leave the city for a hike, so it's a wonderful thing to have access to nature at Centennial Park. Here is a short-and-sweet trail, perfect to get some fresh air and a little bit of exercise without taking too much time:
The 132-acre Centennial Park is located at West End and 25th Avenue. Back in 1897, it was the site of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition.
Within the park, visitors can enjoy the man-made Lake Watauga and watch the waterfowl that call it home. There are also numerous historical monuments, gardens, an arts center, and plenty of areas for outdoor recreation.
The lovely green spaces and central location make Centennial Park one of the most popular parks in the city. On weekends it can get rather crowded, so you'll have to time it just right if you want more peace and quiet.
Maybe you're short on time and just want to go for a quick yet scenic stroll through the park. Luckily there's a 0.6-mile loop trail that circumnavigates Lake Watauga in Centennial Park.
You'll have water views throughout this hike and can always go off and explore other parts of the park or sit by the lake on a bench to relax.
You'll be able to get the best views of the Parthenon, a replica of the Parthenon in Greece that was built here in Nashville in 1897, from across the lake. What a breathtaking scene!
This hike may be short and sweet but with such scenic views, you may want to hike around the lake more than once!
