This Off-The-Beaten-Path Recreation Area In Montana Is The Perfect Place To Escape

If you haven't spent much time in Montana, it might seem as though everything is off the beaten path. With so many wide-open spaces, we can understand why some people might think much of the state is hard to visit. But, the reality is that much of Montana is either full of visitors or people who have moved to a mountain town to enjoy the good life full time. The area was managed by the state beginning in the 1960s but has been managed by the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana since 2021. The tribe sought to manage the park beginning in 2019 when they were granted federal recognition. Hell Creek Recreation Area is located in Jordan. which is in northeast Montana. It sits on the Hell Creek Arm of Fort Peck Lake, making it a go-to spot for fishing, among other things.

The park sits at an elevation of about 2,200 feet and it's comprised of 337 acres.

In addition to fishing for things like northern pike, walleye, and smallmouth bass, this is a great place for boating.

Those in search of adventures with few people will definitely want to explore the area, which also has great day-use facilities including trails, playground, and comfort station. There's even an area to rent for special events.

Best of all, it's possible to turn the adventure into a weekend. This quiet recreation area in Montana has 71 camping sites. Approximately 44 of them have electrical hookups, too.
