Lamar City Park In Missouri Just Turned 100 Years Old And It’s The Perfect Spot For A Day Trip

A fun day out doesn't have to put a strain on our wallets. Sometimes all we need for the perfect family - or solo - outing is to pack a picnic, slip on a pair of comfy shoes, and head to our favorite park. Or maybe we want to explore a new-to-us park, like this 100-year-old park in Lamar, Missouri, that's brimming with amenities and natural beauty.

When Lamar City Park marked its 100th birthday on June 17, 2023, residents came together to celebrate in a big way, with food trucks, games, a concert, and a full menu of fun. The park, after all, has come a long way from its humble start as a campground.

You can still camp in the park. Lamar City Park has three spots for RV parking that are available first come first serve with a maximum seven-night stay.

Today, the beloved city park has a little bit of something for everyone - from a playground for the little ones to...

Basketball courts, a lighted tennis court, and a bike path that doubles as a walking trail. Follow the one-mile, accessible path that offers scenic views of the park.

Summertime is all about baseball, and Lamar City Park hosts eight (yes, eight!) baseball and softball fields.

Be sure to bring your camera, too, especially if it's your first visit. Snap photos in front of the caboose and...

As you cross the covered bridge. The park even has a fish pond.

Try to time at least one visit for the fun and tasty Picnic at the Park, a food truck event that's held on the fourth Thursday of each month from March through July and in September and October.

The popular event features as many as eight food trucks.
