The Mississippi Lake That’s Almost Unbelievably Calming, No Matter What Time Of Year It Is
Bluff Lake in Mississippi offers a serene and scenic retreat with various recreational activities and abundant wildlife.
Bluff Lake is one of the most peaceful lakes in Mississippi – and we’re not bluffing! Perfectly secluded and brimming with natural beauty, the lovely body of water only gets better as the year progresses.
Bluff Lake is in the Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge.
The refuge consists of 48,000 acres and spans three counties: Noxubee, Oktibbeha, and Winston.
However, any visit to the refuge should begin at the visitor center, which is in Brooksville.
Bluff Lake is one of several bodies of water in the refuge, and at 800 acres, it’s the largest.
Absolutely beautiful, the lake boasts calm, pristine water. Plus, it’s surrounded by lush vegetation that changes throughout the seasons.
Not just easy on the eyes, the lake is perfect for a wealth of recreational activities, including fishing.
Boats, canoes, and kayaks are permitted on the lake seasonally each year. (There’s no motor size limit in effect, but “no wake” is observed at all times.)
Bluff Lake is also a prime spot for bird-watching, as an array of birds can be found around the lake.
Refuge visitors can enjoy the lake from afar, too. In addition to taking a driving tour of the refuge, visitors can hike foot trails, explore boardwalks, and view scenery from overlooks.
Ready to visit Bluff Lake? Don't forget, it's in the Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge. Have any questions? Call the refuge at (662) 323-5548.
So, did you know about this lake? Ever visited? If so, do you agree? Is it a calming spot all year long? Know of any other peaceful bodies of water in the state? Tell us!
After exploring Bluff Lake, consider paying a visit to Williams Brothers General Store. It’s about an hour from the refuge. It's worth the effort, though, since it's equal parts historic and charming.
