If you have yet to find such a spot, never fear: we found six! So, when the summer temps become just too much to bear, cool off with a visit to one of the following glorious Mississippi swimming holes:

1. Silver Run Swim Hole (Poplarville)

Beat the heat – sans crowds – at this secluded small town swimming hole along the Wolf River. Clean water and sandbars only add to the list of reasons to visit. Here's a map to locate this fun little swimming hole in Mississippi.

Poplarville is one of those "one-stoplight" small towns, which is perfect for folks looking for a secluded getaway. This treehouse in Poplarville is right on the water and offers its own little private beach!

2. Dunn’s Falls Park (Enterprise)

Where better to splash around than underneath the state’s tallest waterfall? The shallow pool below Dunn’s Falls is not only scenic, but it’s crystal-clear, too. There's a little picnic area, a nature trail, and a lot of history to take in, so give yourself enough time to see it all! It's certainly one of the best swimming holes in Mississippi.

3. D’Lo Water Park (Mendenhall)

Living up to its reputation as "Mississippi’s best-kept secret," this secluded park is nestled on the Strong River. The river’s calm, cool, pristine waters are perfect for a refreshing dip on a hot summer's day. We love this Mississippi swimming hole!

4. Clear Springs Campground (Roxie)

Pack your camping gear and spend a relaxing weekend at Clear Springs Campground near Roxie, Mississippi. The 12-acre spring-fed lake is a welcome sight to beat the heat after exploring the nearby hiking trails. The campground is an idyllic little spot, and it's the perfect campground for pitching a tent (or parking your RV).

5. Camp Topisaw

This waterfront campground is incredible. The sandbanks are perfect for sinking your toes in the sand, and the tall trees offer some shade from that brutal summer sun. Visit the Hipcamp listing to check dates and availability.

6. Clark Creek Natural Area (Woodville)

Shallow swimming holes and waterfalls of varying heights are scattered throughout the Clark Creek Natural Area. While you most likely won't find a deep swimming hole, there are plenty of waterfalls here, so you can definitely stand underneath them and cool down.
