The One Place In Mississippi That Looks Like Something From Middle Earth

Clark Creek Nature Area in Mississippi is a stunning natural park with vibrant greenery, rock formations, and numerous waterfalls, reminiscent of Tolkien's Middle Earth.

You may have thought J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth existed only in the world of fantasy... but that’s simply not the case. There’s a natural wonderland right here in Mississippi that could easily pass for something thought up by Tolkien himself; Mississippi's Clark Creek Nature Area is a hidden gem that feels positively otherworldly.

Tucked away in the small town of Woodville, you'll find one of Mississippi's most amazing outdoor treasures, the Clark Creek Nature Area.

Filled with vibrant greenery and large rock formations, this one-of-a-kind state park looks like something from another world. A popular hiking spot, Clark Creek offers 1.78 miles of improved trails and 2.6 miles of primitive trails.

The improved trails are perfect for a variety of skill levels, while the primitive trails require a bit more endurance.

No matter which route you take, you'll find plenty of pristine waterfalls.

Scattered throughout the nature area, the falls range from 10' - 30' in height.

Amid the mixed hardwood and pine forest, there's an abundance of lush greenery, creating a setting like no other.

Large moss-covered boulders and flowing streams are just a few other sites that await hikers at Clark Creek Nature Area. In Mississippi's very own Middle Earth, there's no shortage of sights to marvel at.

Clark Creek Nature Area is opened year-round. The park charges a $4 admission fee (which covers up to 6 people) per vehicle.
