There are lots of great swimming spots in Mississippi; however, there aren’t many with water as pristine as Merit Water Park. Not your typical water park, Merit Water Park doesn’t have any slides or rides. Instead, it boasts a spring-fed creek with some of the cleanest, clearest water in the state. At first glance, Mendenhall looks like any other small town in Mississippi. However, it just so happens to be home to one of the state’s best hidden gems, Merit Water Park.

The park is just 25 acres, but that doesn’t mean visitors will be bored — and that’s because it’s located on right on Rials Creek, which features a sand and rock creek-side beach and…

Spring-fed, the creek’s water remains cold throughout the year — even in the throes of summer.

Temperature isn’t the water’s only notable feature, though. There’s also its clarity. See how clear the water is?

Clean and pristine, you can see straight through the water to the creek’s bottom.

From certain angles, the water may appear a bit brown; however, if you look closely, you’ll realize that it’s not the water that’s brown — it’s the bottom of the creek.

Easily accessible and filled with water that’s cold and clean, Rials Creek is (not surprisingly) a popular swimming spot among locals.
