As summer starts to wind down, one of the best ways to hang onto some sunshine is with a fresh bouquet of sunflowers. Sure, you could just pick them up at a florist, but I say why not make an adventure of it and head out to a gorgeous spot, like Fresh Acres Farm, where you can pick your own sunflowers in Minnesota!
Fresh Acres Farm is located near the community of Monticello, Minnesota, between the Twin Cities metro area and St. Cloud.
Every year, the farm plants acres of sunflowers for folks to come out and enjoy.
You can walk the fields and bathe in the flowers' sunny beauty.
In 2023, you can pick your own sunflowers at $2 per stem. Be sure to bring your own clippers!
Although the farm doesn't charge admission to its sunflower fields, it does ask for a small donation to help defray its costs. A pay box for cash is located on-site, or you can use Venmo or Cash App to pay for the flowers that you cut and to make a donation.
Fresh Acres Farm is also committed to ensuring that folks with mobility issues can come out and enjoy time on the property.
During many of its events, the farm has ruggedized track chairs on hand.
There's more than sunflower picking to be done at Fresh Acres Farm!
Toward the end of sunflower season, the farm is gearing up for its fall harvest events. There are activities, games, rides, and all sorts of fun things for the whole family - even a corn maze!
And, of course, you can pick up your pumpkin(s) while you're there.
Fresh Acres Farm is a perennial favorite agritainment destination for folks in the Twin Cities and throughout central Minnesota. I think a visit to Fresh Acres Farm makes part of an awesome fall weekend getaway when combined with a stay at nearby Lake Maria State Park or a local vacation rental.
