There’s A Little Slice Of Paradise Hiding Right Here In Minnesota… And You’ll Want To Visit
Oberg Mountain on Minnesota's North Shore offers a moderately easy hike with stunning views, especially in the fall.
What many don't realize about Minnesota's scenic North Shore is that the views from the shore itself are just the beginning. Instead of spending all your time out on the cliffs, head up into the mountains, however low they might be, to truly find the spectacular lookouts. One place in particular will satisfy all your adventure cravings, provide gorgeous views, and is easy enough for almost anyone to get to. It's Oberg Mountain, which can be hiked in just an afternoon on the Oberg Mountain Loop.
You start by winding through the forest just out of Tofte on the North Shore (from the trailhead on Onion River Road).
You'll find no shortage of spectacular views on this 2.3-mile hike - including 360s of the North Shore and surrounding mountains.
But one of the best is when you can see Oberg Lake.
It's especially gorgeous in the fall, when the surrounding forest is all shades of gold, orange and red.
The payoff for this moderately easy hike (that even small kids can complete) is unreal and it'll make your North Shore vacation that much better!
