In every season, Michigan’s natural wonder is worth exploring. From the shorelines of our Great Lakes to the endless woodland beauty that abounds throughout our many forests, there’s so much to see. When you’re searching for a year-round destination that brings together gorgeous scenery and unique history, look no further than this spectacular state park.
Bewabic State Park is located at 720 Idlewild Rd in Crystal Falls.
This Upper Peninsula gem might not be as well-known as some of Michigan’s other parks, but that shouldn’t stop you from visiting. There’s fun to be had here year-round.
Situated along the lovely shores of Fortune Lake, Bewabic State Park consists of more than 300 acres. For those who love the great outdoors, the area’s recreation options are endless.
During warmer months, snag one of 129 campsites and enjoy the in-park beach. There are also picnic areas, playgrounds, and plenty of greenery to appreciate throughout.
The fun doesn’t end when temperatures drop, though: while the campground closes during winter, Bewabic remains open for hiking, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and more.
In addition to its natural beauty, the park boasts an intriguing history. Since its founding in 1923, Bewabic has been the site of many projects via the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Today, visitors can still check out structures built by the CCC, including a log picnic shelter, a bathhouse, and more. History buffs will be especially impressed by these structures.
Whether you’re looking for a glimpse at Michigan’s past or simply seeking a pretty place to stretch your legs, a visit to this Upper Peninsula state park will surely keep you smiling.
