When you hear the morning alarm go off, it's just way too tempting to snuggle in bed for a little bit longer! But when you're promised a memorable sunrise like the ones you get at Beaver Island in Michigan, you have to summon the energy to get out of bed because it'll be totally worth it.
Beaver Island is the largest island in Lake Michigan, but also one of the least inhabited. But don't worry, it has plenty of quaint hotels, charming restaurants, and well-stocked shops to entertain you once you get off the ferry, as well as some of the best beaches in all of Michigan. But best of all, Beaver Island has some of the darkest skies in the entire country, making for epic stargazing and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
Beaver Island only has 600 year-round residents. To get to this remote island, you need to take a ferry or plane.
But it's all worth it once you get there. It's absolutely beautiful, with peaceful, sandy beaches.
And of course, that level of quiet and lack of light pollution combined with the water views makes for one of the most stunning sunrises in the state of Michigan.
It also makes for a beautiful sunset — and jaw-dropping stargazing because it's just so dark out here.
Oh, and it makes for beautiful sunny days in between the rise and set as well.
I mean, look at this sunrise. Suddenly waking up at 5 a.m. doesn't sound so crazy after all, right?
You can reward yourself afterward with a relaxing day at the beach.
Then you can start the process all over again. This sunset is to die for.
Oh, and don't worry: Beaver Island is just as gorgeous in the winter as it is in the warmer months.
With sunrises like these, mornings at Beaver Island are simply unforgettable. Have you ever been to Beaver Island? What was your favorite activity there? Tell us all about it in the comments. Know of another fantastic must-visit place in Michigan? Let us know right here on our nomination form.
