Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area in Massachusetts offers scenic trails, a boardwalk, and abundant wildlife.

If there’s one thing that Massachusetts has plenty of, it’s pretty places to explore nature. However, this charming path around a pond may be something special. It features a lovely boardwalk and lots of awesome views. Here’s where you can find it.

Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area offers pretty paths and lily pads to explore. Located in the towns of Hanson and Halifax, this stunning wildlife refuge and pond is just the thing for an escape into nature this season.

The park include more than 1,600 acres of unspoiled greenery and bogs. In fact, it’s the former site of one of the largest cranberry bogs in the world.

Today, the Burrage Pond area offers at least 15 miles of trails to explore. More than 90% of them are completely flat, which makes for easy strolling and mountain biking.

During the course of your adventure, you’ll come across a lovely boardwalk that spans boggy woodland, beautiful songbirds, and more than a few fairytale lily pads.

The pond itself is a hotspot for birds, including wood ducks, geese, and even ospreys. If you’re an angler, you’ll want to bring along your reel for the chance to catch some prime bass. Dogs are also welcome to wander Burrage Pond with their keepers!

The main parking lot for the refuge is along a dirt road off of Hawks Avenue in Hanscom. Look for where Pleasant Street crosses the railroad tracks.
