Summer goes by so quickly and before we know it, the kids are back at school. If the season is zipping past you (as is the case in my household), it is time to whip out your local summer bucket list and start checking off items. If you are looking for a park where you can enjoy lots of fun family-friendly outdoor adventures in one place, Massasoit State Park in East Taunton may be the perfect day trip for you.

Massasoit State Park has adventures for every outdoor enthusiast. The 1,200-acre park is open year-round and offers opportunities for both warm and cold weather fun.

The park has six bodies of water to enjoy. Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing are popular park summer activities.

If your family enjoys fishing, you are in luck. Perch, bass, and pickerel are just some of the species of fish that have been found within the park's waters.

During your visit, you may also spot frogs, salamanders, turtles, and colorful birds.

There are lots of wonderful hiking trails to explore. These range from easy to moderate degrees of difficulty. Or maybe you prefer to explore the woods by bike. The Adams Trail and Five Pond Loop are two popular mountain bike trails.

End your visit with a trip to Annie’s Playground, an accessible playground within the state park. The kids will burn off their last bits of energy playing on the swings, zip line, and climbing equipment.

With so much to do, you can easily spend the whole day exploring the park. However, if you would like more time, you can also camp here. The park offers 84 tent and RV sites (including some electric sites) and has an onsite bathroom and shower facilities. There is even a campers-only beach area.

And if you don’t have time to make a trip this summer, there is still plenty of time to visit in the fall. The trails will be filled with gorgeous foliage and the park’s cranberry bog is a sight to see during this time of year.
