This Man Made Swimming Hole In Massachusetts Will Make You Feel Like A Kid On Summer Vacation

Think back to when you were a kid and you would go with your family to the local lake, pond, or pool. Well, you may be able to relive some of those childhood memories with a dip in Arlington Reservoir, a man-made swimming hole in Massachusetts. You may feel like a kid again!

The Arlington Reservoir was built in the 1870s. Its original purpose was a supply of drinking water. While owned by the town of Arlington, a portion of it is located in Lexington. It is 65 acres which includes the surrounding land.

In the 1890s, Arlington Reservoir was opened up for recreation and ceased being used for drinking water. Among the activities residents and visitors could enjoy are walking, birdwatching, boating, fishing, and, of course, swimming!

Today, visitors can still enjoy those activities and more. Spending time here may just remind you of those hot summer days from your childhood.

On those hot days, spend some time laying out on the sandy beach and dipping in the reservoir's cool waters. And don't forget to bring a picnic with you.

Swimming is allowed during the summer months at the Res Beach, as it's called. There's even a lifeguard on duty during the open hours.

In addition to swimming, Arlington Lake also has a wonderful playground the kiddos will enjoy. There are also woods, a brook, and plenty of wildlife. Not only will you feel like a kid on summer vacation again as you swim, but you'll feel like a kid again as you explore the areas surrounding the reservoir.
