This Hidden Beach With A Playground And Tennis Courts In Massachusetts Is A Stellar Summer Adventure
Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, Massachusetts offers beaches, recreation facilities, and historical significance, making it a perfect summer destination.
Summer is here and it is finally time to hit the beach! The Cape Ann region of Massachusetts has several amazing beaches that are great for a summer’s day in the sun. You may already be familiar with Good Harbor Beach, Crane’s Beach, and Wingaersheek Beach, but did you know there is another fantastic hidden gem of a beach right in Gloucester? Stage Fort Park is one of my favorite places to visit during the summer.
At Stage Fort Park, there is everything you need to enjoy your day. Beaches, recreation facilities, and a bit of history make this a special place to visit.
You will find two beaches within the park’s borders. Cressy’s Beach is a rocky beach that is a great place to sit back and relax and take in the harbor views below.
When you get hot, head over to Half Moon Beach to cool off in the water. The lovely beach, named for its crescent shape, is handicapped accessible.
Lifeguards are on duty during daytime hours starting Memorial Day through Labor Day.
For your convenience, there are restroom facilities on-site.
Stage Fort also has tennis courts, a baseball field, volleyball courts, and a basketball court.
There is also a picnic area where you can have some lunch and a playground area for kids to enjoy.
While you are visiting the park, you can also learn a little bit about Massachusetts history.
Look for the massive rock with the plaque on it and read about Gloucester’s first European settlers, who came to this site in 1623.
The Cupboard of Gloucester is a privately-operated restaurant within the park.
It is a nice place to enjoy salads, sandwiches, seafood, and ice cream.
More information about Stage Fort Park can be found on the City of Gloucester's official website. Have you visited Stage Fort Park? What was your favorite thing about it? After you hit the beach, you may want to grab some dinner. Woodman's of Essex is a great choice. If you are looking for lodging in the area, I recommend staying at the Castle Manor Inn.
