The Farmers Almanac Predicts Winter 2020 In Massachusetts Will Have Frigid Temps And Above Average Amounts Of Snow

The time has finally come to stow away the beach chairs and sunscreen and start digging through the garage for snow shovels and spare scarves. The chilly season in Massachusetts is upon us, and if you ask the people who compile the legendary Farmer’s Almanac, this winter is going to be intense.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the winter of 2020 is shaping up to be a real rollercoaster. In fact, the famous meteorological guide is actually calling it a "polar coaster."

So what can you expect this winter? The experts are saying that temperatures will be all over the place – freezing cold weeks will be followed by exceedingly mild ones before the mercury dips once again.

That means that this winter is predicted to include lots of snow and rain, some of which will likely quickly melt and re-freeze, leading to dangerously icy roads and sidewalks.

Additionally, the Almanac says to expect the coolest weather in early January and February. Coupled with the high levels of precipitation, the earliest days of 2020 may be some of the roughest.

The Almanac predicts intense storms from January 4 to 7 and again from January 12 to 15. That’s bad news for folks returning from holiday travel, but it does mean that students may not need to miss additional school!

Of course, it’s not all bad news. Skiers will love the Almanac’s predictions of heavy snow throughout the winter, and though the winter temps are said to be chilly, the forecasters aren’t predicting any record-breaking cold snaps.

Whether or not you believe in the accuracy of the Farmer’s Almanac, there’s no denying it’s a fun read. And at the end of the day, there’s no harm in loading up on ice-scrapers and hot cocoa!
