Veterans Memorial Tower is located at the top of Mount Greylock. This 93-foot tall tower looks a bit like a lighthouse and commemorates those who served the in U.S. military.

Besides being a moving memorial, it’s also an incredible vantage point from which to take in the stunning foliage that surrounds Mount Greylock in the autumn. Standing at the tower will give you panoramic views of the forest below as well as Saddle Ball Mountain.

Hiking to the tower is the perfect way to check out the area’s fall foliage. Going via the Bellows Pipe and Thunderbolt trail will give you a challenging but rewarding hike, with a total of 5.1 miles of terrain to tackle.

The trail features a waterfall and is perfect for hikers looking to really get active. It starts at a parking area and though the terrain can get pretty steep, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views along the way.

Yup — that means you can cruise to the summit and soak up all that foliage without even lacing your hiking boots. It’s a great option for days when you’re feeling a little lazy but still want some fresh air.
