As the mercury rises and the days get longer, one of the best cures for summer heat is splashing around in cool waters. When you've had your fill of the seaside and regular ol' pools just don't cut it, head to one of the best waterparks in Massachusetts and take your refreshment with a side of excitement.
1. Great Wolf Lodge, Fitchburg
2. Water Wizz, East Wareham
Southern New England's largest water park is only an hour from Boston and Providence. There are TONS of waterslides and a pretty awesome wave pool at Water Wizz. Captain Kid's Island is great for children, while Thunder Falls provides a real adrenaline rush. If you prefer to spend the day relaxing, there are also plenty of places to just splash around and soak up the sun. This is one of the best Massachusetts waterparks, hands down!
3. Boston Common Frog Pond Spray Pool, Boston
The Frog Pond may not be the fanciest water park on this list, but it's definitely one of the most beloved. While many may know the Boston Common Frog Pond as a place where city dwellers go skating in the winter, this pool actually becomes a pretty wonderful swimming hole in the warmer months. The sprays and fountains will delight younger kids, and grownups will love the free Wi-Fi and awesome cafe. The spray pool is open from the end of June until Labor Day.
4. Cape Cod Inflatable Park, West Yarmouth
5. Hurricane Harbor, Six Flags New England, Agawam
There's so much going on at Hurricane Harbor that we definitely can't fit it here, but suffice it to say that their water rides are out of this world. If you prefer your water park with LOTS of options, a bit of thrill, and plenty of splashing, Six Flags can deliver. From massive wading and wave pools to breathtaking water slides and some awesome lazy rivers in Massachusetts, you're sure to find your particular flavor of fun. There are too many water rides to list here, but don't miss the Tornado rafting ride or the Bonzai Pipelines.
6. Breezy Picnic Grounds Waterslides, Douglas
Breezy Picnic Grounds Waterpark may not be the biggest, but it definitely has some of the best views of any we know of. Located right on the shore of crystal-clear Whitins Reservoir, this park features three 300-foot waterslides that guests can ride an unlimited amount of times! This is an incredible local park with unbeatable natural beauty and a great grassy park for picnics and lounging.
7. Cape Codder Resort Water Park, Hyannis
The final place on our best waterparks in Massachusetts list is one that's a favorite among locals. Cape Codder Resort includes a lazy river, several slides, a spray deck, a retractable roof, and a waterpark restaurant. The park's wave pool is over 8,200 square feet and perfect for kids. Adults can also enjoy a 24-person whirlpool, relax in two saunas, or even take advantage of the park's fitness center. Access to the park is free for overnight guests.
