This enchanting hike may just be one of Cape Cod’s best-kept secrets.
Located in the Cornelia Carey Sanctuary in Falmouth, this 0.8-mile trail is usually simply known as "The Knob."
This short, family-friendly trail is a breezy walk through scenic beach grass and along sandy paths.
There are actually two routes available. The one on the right is quite short and easy with a slight incline.
The one on the left is longer and a touch more difficult.
Both will get you absolutely jaw-dropping views of Quissett Harbor and the surrounding landscape.
One of the most fun parts of this trail is walking out along the narrow spit of land connecting The Knob with the mainland.
You almost feel as if you’re walking on water.
Once you’ve landed on the picturesque little island, enjoy a panoramic view from atop The Knob’s granite boulders or rest awhile on a bench. On a clear day, you can see all the way to New Bedford from The Knob.
During the spring and summer, you can find beach plum bushes in bloom along the trail, not to mention some pretty cool seashells along the shore at low tide or after a big storm.
It’s also really hard to overstate how lovely the sunsets are here.
There's no reason not to add a hike to this spectacular seaside spot to your to-do list.
