As Maine becomes increasingly more popular it gets harder and harder to find spots that are undiscovered. The little corners of the woods and secret swimming holes are far more busy than they once were. And, while we understand that this can be frustrating, we also know that it can be hard not to share some something when we're excited. We want places to remain pristine and that takes making sure we're all careful when we visit. With all of that in mind, we couldn't help but share one of our favorite little waterfalls here in Vacationland.
You'll find this incredible waterfall at Kezar Falls Gorge by going slightly off-the-beaten path in Lovell, Maine.
A good starting point is Melby's, in Waterford.
Your route begins on 5 Kezar Road, which is right in front of Melby's.
After driving about 10 minutes you'll start to see cars parked along the road. This is when you'll know to stop. The gorge is not far away!
You'll see the path easily - just head down towards the sound of the water.
As you some to the bottom of the rough path, you'll see the swimming hole and stream.
The area feels like a hidden oasis, complete with birds and the sounds of wind blowing through the trees.
You can jump in, but we suggest just sliding into the water to find the falls. This water can be chilly!
Once you're in the water, just follow the sounds of the running water. It's just beyond the rocks and as soon as you see it you'll realize how worth-it the trip is!
