When it comes to beating the heat, Louisiana is full of wonderful attractions that make for splendid summer destinations. Whether you're looking to drop your line and do a little fishing or spend the afternoon in a heated game of beach volleyball, there's one incredible state park where you can do all of that plus much more, making it one of the most underrated summer destinations in Louisiana. Let's check it out.
When you want to spend a day or two living your best life alongside some of the most beautiful scenery in Louisiana, a visit to Cypremort Point State Park is in order.
Situated on the shores of Vermilion Bay, Cypremort Point is like a little island oasis hiding in plain sight in St. Mary Parish, and you’ll quickly fall in love with this hidden gem.
Established in 2004, this 185-acre state park is one of the newer additions to the Louisiana State Park system, featuring lush green space to sprawl out, a beach, fishing pier, and much more.
The Bay is a popular spot for sailboats and parasailers looking to enjoy a day on the water.
There’s a beach volleyball court which will provide hours of fun for you and your loved ones.
Of course, one of the most popular attractions in the park is the half-mile stretch of beach that’s ideal for catching some rays, building sand castles, or just sinking your toes in the sand.
If you decide you’d like to stay a while, there are several cabins available to rent. All of their cabins sleep up to eight people, so bring the whole family.
There are boat slips available, too, so you can take your boat out on the Bay or even in to the deeper Gulf waters.
It's a popular spot to do a little flounder or redfish fishing.
After a day of fishing, come back to the beach and grill up your catch of the day while watching the sunset.
The sunsets over Vermilion Bay are some of the most stunning in the state, and you’ll be dazzled by the vibrant displays of color that’ll bounce across the water.
