In a state as beautiful as Louisiana, there are plenty of great places to watch the sunrise and sunset. The Bayou State's amazing skies put on a magnificent show for us twice a day. One spot that's just perfect for watching the sunset or sunrise in Louisiana is Grand Isle Beach. This stunning beach is tucked away on the island that shares its name, one of the barrier islands that line the state's shoreline in the Gulf of Mexico.
Sadly, the island sustained major damage during Hurricane Ida in the fall of 2021, but progress is being made toward recovery. Many local businesses are in the process of reopening, and the island is returning to its former beauty.
One great thing about the beaches at Grand Isle is that they are dog-friendly, so bring along Rover to play in the surf as the sun comes up!
Of course, the evening sunsets are just as magnificent here.
Taking time out of your busy day to watch the sunset in Louisiana is a magical experience.
Watching the sky transform through red, orange, blue, purple, and pink before finally fading to darkness will have you wondering why you don't catch the sunset every evening.
Though the island is small at only about eight square miles, it has several hotels with a great view. Consider staying for a weekend and catching the sunrise as well!
Your dog will love to frolic in the sand and chase the waves, though we suspect they won't really care much about the sun rising or setting.
With seven miles of beach to explore, you have plenty of space to watch the sunrise or sunset in Louisiana on this beautiful little island.
