The American Rose Center in Shreveport is the largest park dedicated to roses in the nation, featuring thousands of rosebushes and a variety of companion flowers.

It’s time to stop and smell the roses - literally. Tucked away in the northwestern part of the state lies a hidden gem that’s worthy of a road trip. The American Rose Center is the largest park dedicated to roses in the nation, and we are lucky enough to have this spectacular garden right in our own backyard. Let’s take a closer look.

Spring has sprung, and the American Rose Center is about to be in full bloom with thousands of beautiful blossoms.

Located in Shreveport, the American Rose Center is a 118-acre garden filled with a variety of rose gardens, sculptures, and fountains.

Nestled underneath towering pines, you’ll have a stunning backdrop of flowers as you stroll through the peaceful pathways.

Peak bloom season in from mid-April to late-May, and then again in mid-September to late-October.

There are over 65 individual rose gardens and more than 20,000 rosebushes, so if you visit during peak season, you’ll be overwhelmed with these fragrant flowers.

And there are dozens of species of companion flowers, too.

Everywhere you look, you'll be surrounded by a sea of color.

There are several benches peppered around the garden, perfect for a quiet reflection.

Make sure you make the time to visit this botanical oasis this year; you won't regret it.

Typically, the American Rose Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; however, with the COVID-19 stay-at-home-mandate, the center is currently closed until the mandate is lifted. Keep this place in mind for an outdoor adventure in a few weeks!
