One of the newer state parks in Louisiana, this 1,300-acre park opened to the public in 2010.

During the warmer months, the water playground is a popular hang-out for kids of all ages.

Keep this in mind for the summer! The water playground is open from May until September.

However, Palmetto Island State Park is beautiful year-round.

Noted for its abundance of palmettos, the park’s nature trail is one of the best ways to view the park.

The 1.5-mile loop trail is full of beautiful scenery.

You’ll traverse through a coastal bottomland hardwood forest with glimpses of swamps and marshes along the way.

You might even find a perfect little fishing spot.

Bring your rod and see if you can catch yourself some dinner.

There are many other ways to enjoy the park.
