You’ll Never Forget A Visit To Insta-Gator Ranch and Hatchery, A One-Of-A-Kind Farm Filled With Alligators In Louisiana
Insta-Gator Ranch and Hatchery offers educational tours and unique experiences with alligators, including holding and hatching them.
Ever wanted to hold an alligator? Just north of Covington is an incredible alligator farm. Insta-Gator Ranch and Hatchery is home to over 2,000 alligators and invites visitors to tour the farm and its gators, ranging in size from newborns to 8-footers. The facility educates visitors about conservation, the alligator tanning industry, and the positive environmental effects of a healthy alligator presence in Louisiana.
The guided tour provides a comprehensive look at the alligator industry, including an airplane and airboat used to locate and harvest alligator eggs in the wild.
Your tour guide will be a trove of knowledge about alligators and their history, all the way back to the dinosaurs.
You’ll learn why alligator ranches such as Insta-Gator benefit the American Alligator as a species and promote sustainability in the tanning industry.
While many of the alligators you see on the tour are quite small, you’ll also have the opportunity to see large specimens in clear-watered enclosures.
As an optional addition to the tour, visitors can choose between holding a two-foot alligator and a four-foot alligator for an incredible photo opportunity.
Don’t worry: the alligator’s mouth is temporarily taped shut for safety.
Another optional addition to the tour is a countertop-high pool full of baby alligators. You can attempt to catch the little guys in the water.
Want to be present at the birth of an alligator? During August, Insta-Gator provides a special tour to the hatchery where visitors can assist a baby alligator out of its egg.
Insta-Gator is just over an hour away from New Orleans over Lake Pontchartrain. To learn more about tour pricing, add-ons, and other programs that the ranch offers, check out their website.
