Sometimes, you just need to stop and smell the roses. Taking time out of your busy schedule to appreciate the little things in life can do wonders for your health, and when you need a little nature in your life, this rose garden in Louisiana is the perfect place.
The Gardens of the American Rose Center is one of Shreveport’s most beautiful hidden gems.
The 118-acre garden is the largest park dedicated to roses in the entire country, and there are hundreds to admire here.
The official rose garden season is April 1 - October 31, but due to Louisiana’s mild winters, you could see blooms well into November.
During the holiday season, America's Rose Garden turns into a beautiful winter wonderland with hundreds of Christmas lights, decorations, and more. Learn more about Christmas in Roseland on their website.
Within the garden, you’ll find several walking trails and paths to stroll around.
Benches are peppered all around, providing the perfect spot to sit for a spell and do a little meditating or just admire the sights and smells you’re surrounded by.
The grounds are so enchanting, you'll feel like you're walking through a fairy tale.
We'd recommend spending about two hours here, so you can take your time and, well... stop and smell the roses!
The gardens are open seven days a week, but you'll want to check online before you go, as they occasionally close for private events.
Visit the American Rose Garden's website for more information, and don't forget to give them a follow on Facebook so you can stay up to date on what's in bloom. For more nature adventures, check out some of our favorite state parks in Louisiana.
