Near the town of London there are many of these trails and one takes you on a double waterfall hike in Kentucky. It's not a particularly long hike at just around a mile out and back, but it is filled with plenty of that rustic Kentucky scenery.
The trail is marked and you can find the trailhead, but it is a little tricky. Be sure to check out the map and directions on the Alltrails site, linked below.
Once you are on the trail, you'll wind through thick forest and past towering rocks that line a scenic creek. You'll follow this creek for most of the hike.
And when the conditions are right, prepare to witness a stunning double waterfall when you reach this point of the trail.
Because this isn't the easiest or most well-known trail in Kentucky, you'll hopefully enjoy quiet once you reach this point. You'll definitely want to plan to spend some time here, taking in the sound of the falls and the incredible surroundings.
The waterfall is best viewed after rain or melting snow, so keep that in mind when timing your visit.
And thanks to the type of vegetation in the area, it stays fairly green all year long.
Even though the hike back is along the same trail, you'll enjoy a new perspective and view when retracing your steps.
Just look for the flags that mark the trail and definitely download all of the maps and directions beforehand, as you won't have any service once out in the woods.
It takes a little extra effort to take this double waterfall hike in Kentucky, but it's well worth it.
