Situated atop Pine Mountain, this stunning 1,283-acre park has a rich history. It was named after the novel The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come, a Civil War novel written by Kentucky resident John Fox Jr. in 1903, and became a state park in 1961. Fascinating!

Yet for whatever reason, it remains one of the most criminally unappreciated parks in Kentucky.

All of the trails are fairly short in length (under a mile), but many routes can be combined for hikes of varying lengths and difficulty.
