There are a ton of things to love about being in Kentucky, but high on our list is the access to natural beauty. From scenic overlooks to camping, there's no shortage of ways to enjoy our state. But, as always, one of our favorite ways to enjoy life here is to get outside and explore -- especially on the trails. And this park system in Louisville has quickly become a go-to for us. Here's what you need to know to take the Humana Grand Allee Trail, one of the best hikes in Kentucky:
The Parklands Fork park system in Louisville offers just about everything you might want in outdoor exploration.
The land brings together some of the most beautiful scenery in the area and makes enjoying the outdoors so easy. There are a variety of activities offered by each park including hiking and water sports like kayaking.
Today we’re focusing on Beckley Creek Park, which is one of our favorites for beautiful walks and hikes where you can get immersed in nature.
The park features 10 different trails, each one with a unique element that sets it apart from the others.
All 10 are magnificent, but if you’re looking for an easy and simple walk, the Humana Grand Allee Trail is a great choice. The route is about a half-mile long and it has tons of views with lots of different landscapes.
You’ll start your trip along a stone path before reaching the wetlands, which offer a totally different experience. You’ll be surprised that this place exists so close to the city.
Next up is the boardwalk, which goes across the wetland and gives you a better view of everything below.
Plan your visit for the morning or evening and you’ll experience some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets you can imagine.
And we love that this route is wonderful any time of year. Once you’ve completed the Humana Grand Allee Trail, plan to check out some of the others in the park over time.
Whichever trails you do, you’ll find peace surrounded by nature here in Kentucky.
