This Scenic 80-Mile Drive Just May Be The Most Underrated Adventure In Kansas

The Prairie Trail Scenic Byway in Kansas offers beautiful scenery and several attractions, making it perfect for a relaxing drive.

Sometimes you don't want to distract yourself on a particularly nice drive, because the scenery is just so beautiful. You'd rather sit back, relax, and watch the scenery roll past your windows. Well, this trip is simply perfect for that! In addition to wonderful scenery, there's also a few places you can stop and explore the beauty within them as well.

The Prairie Trail Scenic Byway takes you through a path that Native Americans, explorers, and settlers once traveled.

Driving through the same areas that it once took us days to travel is something they could never predict. If you focus on the land around you, you can almost imagine yourself within a group of covered wagons or horseback riders traveling along this byway.

Along this byway you'll get to see both natural and man-made attractions.

There are museums, tourist attractions, and miles of scenic Kansas countryside. Plus, you can make the trip last longer by staying overnight at some point in the trip and exploring more the next day.

Stop at Canton Stars & Stripes Military Museum, Coronado Heights, or choose a small town restaurant to stop in and refuel.

Of course, two of the locations marked on the trail are attractions themselves.

Both Kanopolis State Park and Mushroom Rock State Park are excellent places to visit and stretch your legs a bit.

After all, we can't get enough of Kansas. Set aside a day or more and head out on this beautiful Kansas byway.

Here's a link to the interactive map below, that details the trip itself and can provide step-by-step directions if needed. Happy trails!
