Enjoy A Long Walk At This Underrated State Park In Kansas
Fancy getting out and exploring? Have we got a treat for you today! If you're not familiar with Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park in Logan County, Kansas, it's a newer gem in the Kansas state park system. This place is absolutely magical: it's home to tons of ancient rock formations that look straight out of the streets of ancient Jerusalem. The park is open year-round during daylight hours, and it's a perfect spot for a long, contemplative stroll. I find there's nothing better to clear my mind from worries than being out in nature, and this is truly the perfect place for it. There are several great trails at Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park, but one of the best is the aptly-named Life on the Rocks Trail. Check it out:
Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park spans 330 acres, and much of the park is made up of Smoky Hill Chalk. The white rock makes for such a striking landscape, and this trail shows off some of the best views around.
The Life on the Rocks Trail is about 2.4 miles and considered easy difficulty. It'll take most hikers under an hour to explore.
Make sure you don't go off the marked trail - it's not allowed unless you're with a guide.
This is a side of Kansas that not many are familiar with.
People often think of our flat plains, but we have quite a few beautiful chalk formations here.
The insects can get a little rough on a warm day, so if you visit in the summertime, make sure to wear insect repellent.
You'll also want to bring along water - the landscape here is stunning, but it doesn't provide much shade.
