Hiking in Kansas is truly a magical experience. I find nothing more calming than getting out into nature and admiring all the beauty that surrounds us here in the Sunflower State. We are lucky enough to have so many amazing hikes in Kansas. Our state may have a boring reputation as being nothing but plains, but if you've spent much time here, you know that we actually have a pretty diverse landscape with some really magnificent scenery. This peaceful trail makes for a grand escape from the city. At about 1.6 miles with very little elevation gain, it's a pretty easy route that takes most hikers about 35 minutes to complete.

Many of the trees are labeled with signs stating what species they are, adding a fun bit of education to your outing.

If you visit in the warmer months, you'll definitely want to put on some insect repellent and check yourself for ticks afterward.

Visiting in the fall and winter is a better option if you're looking to avoid bugs.
