Want a 100% guaranteed way to beat the heat this summer while having a nice relaxing time with friends on the Iowa River? This awesome place has the answer. This natural lazy river offers a refreshing way to spend summer's steamiest days.
You can find Rock-n-Row Adventures Iowa River Tubing at 23539 1st Street, Eldora.
This tubing and camping resort is professionally operated, and fully insured. They've been in business since 1994.
Don't worry about transportation once you get there.
The campground is at the end of the float and right by the river. The company has a private shuttle they use to take tubers to the starting point.
The entire tubing adventure lasts between 3 and 4 hours, depending on how fast the river is flowing and its depth at the time.
Rock-n-Row Adventures doesn't put a time limit on tubing. There's typically more water in June, so tubing is faster. Some of the best water flow for tubing happens in July during a "normal" year of Iowa weather and precipitation.
There's a sand volleyball area at the campground for an extra dose of post-tubing fun.
Mud volleyball may be an option, as well.
Tubing costs are per person, and they include a life jacket, one tube per person, and transportation to the starting site.
Coolers must be 40-50 quarts to fit in the specially designed cooler tubes.
Rock-n-Row Adventures is also a music venue.
Live bands play at the campground throughout the summer. There isn't an additional charge for tubers and campers to watch the bands. Those who would like to see the bands but aren't camping or tubing will pay a $15 cover charge per person.
Tubing rules are pretty easy to understand.
Leave your glass bottles and rope at home. Tying tubes together is against the rules. You can use foam pool noodles to hook tubes together. If you have small children with you and you'd like your tube hooked to theirs, the employees at Rock-n-Row are happy to accommodate your request.
Large groups are welcome, of course. There's more than enough room on the river for everyone.
Cooler tubes and trash tubs are complimentary, as well. No one needs to run out of cold beverages or face the problem of where to put their trash.
If you plan to camp, be sure to make reservations ahead of time.
There are 8 acres of open camping space and you can bring a tent or R.V. Water and sewer hook-ups aren't available, but 18-30 amp electric hook ups and 1-50 amp hook up are available. Make reservations two weeks in advance to be 100% sure they'll have room for you. Call 641-751-3418.
The most important part of enjoying Iowa's lazy river and the tubing experience, is to have fun.
