Most People Don’t Know These 5 Waterfalls Are Hiding In Indiana
Indiana offers several beautiful waterfalls that attract locals and visitors alike.
When a lot of people think about Indiana, one of the first things that comes to mind is... corn. Exciting, right? Truth be told, the Hoosier State has a lot more to offer than endless cornfields. There are countless beautiful places in Indiana! Due to our mostly-flat topography, there are not too many waterfalls, right? You may not expect many results if you Google "waterfalls near me in Indiana", but that's where you're wrong - there are plenty. Here are five beautiful waterfalls (including the tallest waterfall in Indiana) that tend to attract a lot of attention from locals.
1. Williamsport Falls (Williamsport)
At 90 feet, Williamsport Falls is the highest free-falling waterfall in the entire state. When flow is heavy, this is one of the best natural wonders in Indiana. It's smack dab in the middle of a town called Williamsport. The flow used to consistently be much heavier, but as the area has developed, the flow has lessened. They're often pretty quiet now, but occasionally, they return to their former glory. It doesn't take much walking at all to see them and even when the falls are slow, the rocks are beautiful.

2. Cataract Falls (Cloverdale)

Located within the Lieber State Recreation Area, there's a lot to see and do near here. Cagles Mill Lake, a 1,400-acre lake, provides many opportunities for fishing.
3. Clifty Falls (Jefferson County)
Clifty Falls is located within Clifty Falls State Park. The flow can change drastically throughout the year. Winter and spring generally being the most voluminous seasons. There are plenty of trails to explore and this is a great place to see natural wonders in Indiana. Find out more information on the Indiana DNR website.
4. McCormick's Creek Waterfall
McCormick's Creek State Park is one of the most beautiful places in Indiana. There are over 10 miles of trails to explore and it's a great place to spend a day. The jewel of the park is McCormick's Creek Waterfall, which can be viewed from trail 3 at the park.
5. Cave Valley (Mitchell)
This beautiful little waterfall is part of the Cave River Valley Nature Preserve. Not far from Mitchell, this is a stunningly green area that feels a million miles away from it all.
