Indiana is one of those states that's awfully underrated, especially when it comes to our natural attractions. With 24 incredible state parks, it might be a little tough to decide where to start - so why not start with one of Indiana's most recently opened hiking trails? I think so. Hidden in McCormick's Creek State Park, this trail is an amazing adventure that you're sure to love as much as the other incredible trails within the park. Let's check it out!

Echo Canyon Trail opened in the summer of 2024, and it's a delight.

Hidden away adjacent to the Centennial Shelter, this little loop trail is an amazing example of how wonderful the beauty of our state is.

It's easy, too, consisting of firm, stable surfaces that make it accessible for all.

I'm not sure what part I like the most: the accessibility, the incredibly shady woodlands, or, of course, the awesome views of McCormick's Creek Falls.

There are numerous waterfalls peppered throughout this amazing park, but McCormick's Creek Falls is easily the most famous.

This hike creates an easy-to-navigate path with excellent vantage points of Echo Canyon. A short walking path known as the Redbud Connector brings the total number of hikeable miles at the park to seven and a half miles - up from 7.1 miles before.

A powerful tornado ravaged the area in 2023, so seeing the progress being made on this amazing slice of paradise is wonderful.

As of the time of this writing, closures remain on trails 5, 6, 7, and 10, and Trail #8 is partially closed. The trails will reopen sooner than later, and they'll be more beautiful than ever.

Along the way, you'll experience all the amazingness the Hoosier State has to offer.

You'll end up looping back around to the Centennial Shelter, and you'll find that you might just want to go again - after all, it's pretty easy, and it's a blast.

Plus, you never know who you might meet along the way!

Since this incredible hiking trail is somewhat new, it doesn't have an AllTrails listing yet, but stay tuned for it.
