What do exploring, hiking, and ghost stories have in common? A haunted hike, of course. We've brought you some pretty haunted places in Indiana before, as well as some amazing hiking spots. Yet, a haunted hike is entirely new. If you're looking for a hike that will keep you on your toes, check out this spooky hike through an Indiana state park...
Morgan-Monroe State Forest in Martinsville looks gorgeous upon entering, especially in the fall. This stunning lakeside forest houses some pretty dark secrets, however, if you're daring enough to uncover them.
While there is a ton of beauty to behold within this forest, upon hiking inside, many claim that they can feel an unnerving presence nearby, particularly when venturing deeper into the woods.
Sound crazy? It's not. In fact, this state forest is home to one of Indiana's most haunted places, Stepp Cemetery, which should be the main event of this hike.
This infamous cemetery is well known for its ghosts, apparitions, voices, and other paranormal sightings. Even the graves are off-putting with messages like "Never at Rest."
Perhaps the most eerie story of paranormal events in this cemetery is the one of baby Lester. The fading numbers on the grave say only 1987; there are no specific dates of birth or death. Legend says that Lester's mother's ghost often appears, sitting on this tree stump crying over her lost child.
Others have even claimed to have seen this woman dig up her baby's bones and cradle them, returning them back to the grave before leaving. You'll find small tokens of tribute all over baby Lester's grave.
While Stepp Cemetery is pretty spooky, Draper Cabin is also steeped in dark legend. This cabin in the woods has a sign on the trail to notate its position. You can actually stay here overnight, if you're willing. Yet, most campers never make it - they flee because of paranormal presences, loud footsteps, weird noises, and a general feeling of dread and uneasiness. Even hikers who have stopped here move on rather quickly.
No matter where you hike in this forest, keep an eye out. There are a high number of claims of Sasquash or Bigfoot sightings reported in this forest. So watch your step...
