The Schooner Trace Trail in Brown County State Park is one of the single most dangerous hikes in Indiana. The Hiking Project trail description warns that "...only the brave and experienced should attempt this climb", and it's a warning many should heed, indeed. Let's take a look at the Schooner Trace Trail in Indiana, and why it's THE most dangerous trail in Indiana:

To begin with, the Schooner Trace Tail isn't simply one mountain hike; it's really two. The trail connects with the Walnut Loop, so you're hiking two trails for the price of one. It's about six miles long, so it won't be an easy trek.

Past hikers warn that the trail is narrow, rocky, and requires getting past a number of streams. In some cases, hikers will even be required to scale sections of the trail with their hands. Be aware of your surroundings, too, as much of the hike is along a cliffside... and it's a long way down.

Of course, the benefit of hiking along a deep ravine is the stunning views you can enjoy along the way. Bring your camera to capture the beautiful vistas dotting the trail.

The Schooner Trail is also a very commonly used (and extremely difficult) mountain biking trail. It is open to hikers too, of course, but you might have to dodge a few speed demon bikers on the way!
