This Beautiful Boardwalk Trail In Indiana Is The Most Unique Hike Around

The Dune Succession Trail at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore offers a scenic and unique hiking experience with views of Lake Michigan and diverse landscapes.

Indiana is full of gorgeous trails brimming with natural beauty and incredible scenery. Hoosiers are pretty lucky, because we can hike through ethereal ravines and sandstone cliffs, climb over rolling hills, stroll through leisurely fields, or trek alongside charming rivers and lakes. Yet, despite all of these beautiful trails, there's no trail quite as beautiful as this little known boardwalk trail through Indiana.

The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore offers some of the most intriguing hiking trails in Indiana. The Dune Succession Trail located in West Beach is an incredible, scenic loop trail that offers views of some of the most stunning sights in the Hoosier state.

This sandy trail is a total of 1 mile long and includes a 100 foot elevation change, as well as 250 boardwalk steps. You'll start by walking across a short boardwalk, then continue along the beach, with an incredible view of Lake Michigan.

The hike becomes easier to follow once you reach the long stretch of boardwalk, which will carry you across the dunes.

You'll climb over the sand and through an unexpected oak forest that offers a cool canopy to hike underneath.
